Wheelbarrows

Great for even some of the smallest yards, wheel barrels can be a very helpful tool when handling yard waste and finished compost alike.

A good wheelbarrow could almost last you a lifetime and will help take the heavy lifting out of your work. Below are a couple of styles and brands that I have used over the years and still use today!

Polar Trailer: Heavy Duty Cub Cart, 400 Lbs Load Capacity

This heavy duty wheelbarrow is very durable and will do any job required of the home owner. With two wheels to help support and keep the load balanced while transporting you can do so with confidence whether you are transferring compost around the yard or carrying around firewood, you never have to worry about tipping it over.
Check it out on Amazon.

United General: 6 Cubic-Feet, Steel Tray Wheelbarrow.

This, single wheel, wheelbarrow, is the style that I have used most throughout my career. When landscaping, this kind of wheelbarrow is the easiest to maneuver, load and unload. United General has several version’s of this single wheeled style. The one offered here is metal body or bucket, while another version available is made of “poly”, a rubber/plastic type substance which is perfect because it’s tough and it won’t rust or dent.

Allsop Home and Garden WheelEasy Folding Wheelbarrow

This little guy is perfect for those who don’t have the room for a full-size wheelbarrow but might sometimes need the tough carrying power of its full-size cousin.
The WheelEasy easily folds up when not in use and is light enough to hang on the wall of a shed or garage.

Tim from CompostingBasics.com
Hello, I’m Tim. I have spent over 20 years working in the lawn and garden industry. In that time I learned a lot about what it takes to create a good, functioning compost system that generates great compost for the garden. I use these same techniques at my own home now and would love to show you what works best for me.
